Nice, Matt. I always knew you were one sharp cookie :)

I don't know, though, how far I'd trust this thing - I put in the Maverick Philosopher URL and came up with "High School", and that just doesn't seem right (it did make me feel a little bit better, though, since mine rated "High School" as well).

Thanks, Aaron, although like you I don't think there's much to this at all. But, like I said, "I just couldn't resist".

I seriously doubt I would have been able to follow Maverick Philosopher when I was in High School. I have trouble enough now, sometimes...

Aaron, you did exactly what I did to a tee, and I immediately discounted that blog readability test as a result. (My blog rated "Genius" as well, but even I'm not egotistical enough to think that the content on my blog is superior to Bill Vallicella's.)

Or maybe the point is that the English on here is so garbled it takes a genius to decypher it?

I hope not, Matt - I'm an English major, and that would not reflect well on my abilities!

Oops :s sorry.

Over at Uncommon Descent someone posted another test which seems a bit more connected with reality. According to that, my review of Lennox's book (the previous post) has a reading age of 17-18 (that's what 12th grade means, right?)

By the way, does anyone know how I delete comments off here? I want to get rid of the spam from "barb michelen".

That second test is an actual readability test, like you'd see done by literacy coaches and so forth. I've been trying to figure out what criteria the blog readability test might be using, but for all I know, it could be an algorithm based on the letters in the URL. (And yes, 17-18 is roughly 12th grade.)

[P.S. I didn't take any offense, so no apology necessary.]

CC,

That is funny, and a testament to Bill's work over there, I guess.

Matt,

To delete comments, just make sure you're logged in, go to the comments screen with the one you want to delete, and click the trash can (or, as you say, rubbish bin) icon below the comment. With Blogger, you can delete your own comments on anyone's blog, and as administrator, you can delete any comment on your own blog. You can even decide whether you want to permanently delete the comment (in which case all trace is gone forever), or just the standard delete (in which case an entry noting its deletion will remain on the thread, and you retain the ability to bring it back if you like).

Hope this helps, and thanks for your recent contribution to the discussion with DL and Paul on my blog. It's good to have you around. Happy New Year!

Thanks, Aaron - instructions duly followed. A Happy New Year to you too (and anyone who reads this).
